Thrift Shop Volunteer
Description
- Assist customers with purchases and inquiries at Norwood Crossing Thrift Shop
- Help price/stock/sort items
- Assist with special events at the Thrift Shop (as needed, if available)
Hours available: Mon-Sat 10am-3pm
Requirements:
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Basic math and reading skills
- Some heavy lifting may be required (for those who are able)
Gift Shop Volunteer
Description
- Work in our in-house gift shop completing transactions for residents, staff, and others
- Process transactions and keep a daily log of sales
- Keep a current inventory 'needs' list for replenishing
Hours available: Ideally Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm but flexible
Requirements:
- Basic math and reading skills
- Warm personality and a willingness to visit with resident customers
Resident Visiting Volunteer
Description
- General visiting with residents including reading, games, conversation, walks, etc.
Hours available: Flexible (generally afternoons)
Requirements:
- Patience
- Warm personality and open to new things!
Life Enrichment Volunteer
Description
- Work with our amazing Life Enrichment staff and assist with activities, outings, and more!
- Assist with moving residents to and from activities
- Assist with games and other activities as needed
Hours available: Hours and activities vary (every day, mostly in the afternoons)
Requirements:
- Patience
- Warm personality
- Willingness to help
Nursing Concierge Volunteer
Description
- Work with our nursing staff and assist them with daily activities
- Respond to phone calls and call lights when nurses and assistants cannot respond promptly
- Other general duties as needed
Hours available: Mon-Fri, 8am-11am
Requirements:
- Interest in geriatric care is a plus. Nursing students welcome!
- Ability to work and be professional in a potentially stressful environment
- Must be patient and friendly!
Brain Fitness Program Volunteer
Description
- Assist residents enrolled in the Brain Fitness program with daily activities including internet and computer games.
- " The Brain Fitness program is a cutting edge program that increases mental stimulation and reverses the aging process in the brain. It has been very popular with our residents and has had some amazing results!
Hours available: Mon-Fri, 12pm-3:15pm
Requirements:
- Patient and friendly
- Familiar with computers and internet applications
Expressive Arts Program Volunteer
Description
- Assist art therapists with the Expressive Arts program, which is aimed at promoting individualism and communication through artistic form.
- Help move residents to and from the class
Hours available:Mon-Fri, hours vary as needed
Requirements:
- Patient and friendly
- Art students or people with artistic backgrounds/interest welcome!
Sunday Morning Chapel Volunteer
Description
- Assist residents to and from the chapel for Sunday morning service
Hours available: Sunday mornings, 9:30am-11:30am
Requirements:
Bring-Your-Pet Volunteer
Description
- Bring your pet and spend time visiting with residents
Hours available: Any day of the week, hours as needed
Requirements:
- Copy of current vaccination/veterinary records
- The Volunteer Coordinator must meet the animal prior to his visiting
Sewing Volunteer
Description
- Help mend clothes for the residents who are not able to do it themselves.
Hours available: TBD, as necessary
Requirements:
- Sewing skills and a willingness to help others!
Norwood Seniors Network Volunteer
Description
- Assist NSN staff with meal delivery, meal preparation, reception, general office or other duties that help them to effectively serve those in the community around us.
Hours available: Office help-Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. Meal delivery-Mon-Fri, 11am-1pm. Other hours vary as needed.
Requirements:
- For meal delivery, volunteer must use their own car
- General office just requires the ability to answer telephones, file, etc.
General Office Volunteer
Description
- Assist Norwood Life Care Foundation, Norwood Crossing and Norwood Seniors Network staff with various office projects
- Projects include helping with mailings, shredding documents, sorting/filing, data entry, etc.
Hours available: Varies, as needed
Requirements:
Special Event Volunteer
Description
- Assist Norwood Life Care Foundation staff with planning and implementing our special events.
- Events include an annual picnic, black-tie gala, and golf outing and others.
- Volunteers can do things like floral arrangement, serve on a committee, fundraising help, decorating, assisting with live and silent auctions, and much more.
Hours available: TBD per event
Requirements:
- Willingness to help and have fun doing it!
Photography Volunteer
Description
- Take pictures of events, resident outings and activities at Norwood Crossing
- Help us show the world the amazing stories of our residents and programming!
- Lead a class about photography

Videography Volunteer
Description
- Capture video of events, resident outings and activities at Norwood Crossing.
- Can include interviews, artistic pieces, documentaries, etc.
